India once again came alive to the sounds and colours of Holi - a festival that defines its vibrancy and brotherhood in a myriad of hues. The celebrations continued as different states across the country welcomed the traditional new year ‘Gudi Padwa’.

The nation had a proud moment as some of her star personalities held aloft the Olympic Torch as it traversed through Delhi on its ultimate journey to China.

Toeing the eco-friendly line, India will open her first Green Hotel in Hyderabad by 2009. It joins a select band of nine eco-friendly hotels across the country. Hopefully this will be a growing tribe whose presence is always more than welcome.

Medical Tourism is seeing an upsurge too. For Indian doctors, western shores could be greener. But for an increasing number of foreign patients, Indian hospitals are fast becoming their first choice. Not surprisingly, over 2.5 lakh (2500000) medical tourists travelled to India in 2007 alone, bringing in considerable foreign earnings.

Paying obeisance to the indomitable strength of human unity in diversity, Sri Aurobindo set up Auroville a township dedicated to Human Unity. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year, it has stood as a testimony to this ideal that forms the crux of man’s existence.

Goa has finally awakened to save frogs, which are so vital for its fragile ecology.
