KALKA - SHIMLA: The Shivalik Deluxe Express, chugging its way up the
beautiful hill side, connects the Howarh - Kalka mail for passenger going
to Shimla. A luxury train, the Shivalik Express has only one stop-Barog.
In its 4 hrs 45 minutes journey, it takes one through 107 tunnels, arched
bridges and picturesque stations. This ninety six kilometer journey links
this one -time summer capital of India - Shimla to the plains of the
Punjab.
The train offers modern fittings and amenities like wall to wall carpet,
cushioned chair, cabin for couples, music system, table for meals, tube lights,
microphone for communication with the guard, improved toilet facilities, and
much more.
The train also has an attached tourist coach called the Shivalik Palace - built
specially for the elite or up market tourist. The facility here include
exclusive kitchen ware, on board catering, music system, indoor games, magazine
& books, modern bathroom, folding beds, and dining table with cushioned chair.
In addition, there are two complimentary retiring rooms at Shimla for one day.
And, for those on a honeymoon, the Shivalik Queen Coach offers coupes with
