ARRIVE DELHI – KATHMANDU
- 0105 Arrive Delhi – “The Lutyen’s City and one of the Greenest capitals in the world” and Transfer to the hotel (room booked from previous day for immediate occupancy). Sleep for the rest of night
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to the international airport (reporting is 2 hrs prior to departure)

KATHMANDU HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. TERRENCE BURGE

- 0600 Pick up from the Hotel Lobby & Transfer for Mountain flight

0700 Mountain flight for an hour to see the famous Himalayan peaks including the Mount Everest (operation is subject to the weather conditions)

KATHMANDU – KOLKATA – OVERNIGHT TRAIN
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to International airport with farewell Khata (white scarf)

1430 Arrive Kolkata and Transfer to the interesting “City of Joy” for a brief tour on own (no guide or entrances, only car for arrival & departure Transfers by us)
- Thence Transfer to the Sealdah railway station

- 2343 Overnight on board the train

Day 04: 25 Mar Sat
ARRIVE NEW JALPAIGURI – DARJEELING (by Toy Train)
- Breakfast at the hotel
- 0840 Arrive New Jalpaiguri and connect the other toy train for Darjeeling
- 0900 Departure by Toy Train no 1D (also a World Heritage Site) Coach F1 – 9, 10
(Should you miss the connection then take a taxi on own to chase the train)

1530 Arrive Darjeeling – “The Queen of Hill Stations” and Transfer to the hotel

DARJEELING

- Early morning Transfer to the Tiger Hill to see the sunrise
- Later see the important sights of Darjeeling including famous tea gardens, the Ghoom and Rumtek monastery, zoo & Himalayan Mountaineering Foundation.

- 0720 Departure by Shatabdi Express 2031 (breakfast & lunch included in the train)

1310 Arrive Amritsar and Transfer to see the Golden Temple, Jalianwala Bagh and some other Gurudwaras (sikh temple) in the city

KHAJURAHO – ORCHHA (117 km) – JHANSI (18 km) – GWALIOR BY TRAIN
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Morning quickly see some other group of temples. Thence Transfer by road to Jhansi railway station. En route visit famous cenotaphs and fort at Orchha. Arrive Jhansi. If interested, visit its Fort famous for Rani Laxmi Bai
- 1805 Departure by Shatabdi Express 2001
- 1907 Arrive Gwalior and Transfer to the hotel
- Overnight at the hotel

GWALIOR – AGRA (110 km / 2 hrs)
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Morning visit the Gwalior fort and temple of Saas – Bahu, besides also see the tomb of Tansen, famous singer from Mughal times. Thence Transfer by road to Agra. Afternoon visit this well kept Red Fort and later the Taj Mahal by the sunset
- Overnight at the hotel

AGRA – RANTHAMBORE (400 km / 8-10 hrs)
- Visit Taj Mahal once again during the sunrise. Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer by road to Ranthambore. En route visit the famous monuments complex of Fatehpur Sikri
- Dinner & Overnight at the hotel

Day 14: 04 Apr Tue
RANTHAMBORE
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Morning go on a jeep safari to see various kind of flora & fauna. You would see a variety of wild animals and if lucky, then a tiger too! Shall try to offer you an elephant ride (always subject to availability)
- Lunch at the hotel. If you are a little adventurous, you can do a bit of trekking to see the old fort (banned at the moment).
- Evening embark on another safari to sight the wildlife
- Dinner & Overnight at the hotel

RANTHAMBORE – JAIPUR (180 km / 4 hrs)
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Morning take yet another safari to sight the wildlife. Lunch at the hotel. Transfer by road to Jaipur – “The Pink City”

- 0800 This morning visit the magnificent Amber Fort with an ascent by the elephant back. Later see the City Palace & Wind Palace and the famous Observatory

- Visit the city of lakes on own. Evening enjoy the common boat cruise during the sunset at the lake Pichola. Later visit Lok Kala Mandal where artisans display their skills and various cultural programmes go on

As we left the hotel I commented that “considering all those trains and planes and buses everything went like clockwork “and then fate played it’s hand as we hit traffic from every direction and it took us 3.5 hours to reach the airport, even resorting to taking a detour through a town that I don’t think had even seen a car before and running up to the check-in desk mere minutes before they closed it … So now the Indian adventure was over for real this time….
A big thank you to India Invites who planned everything down to the smallest detail and made it such an enjoyable visit. If I had to pick one highlight I’d say Darjeeling and I look forward to visiting it again some day … but that said I’d repeat the whole journey again without any hesitation.
