Warm Greetings from Goa!
The ghastly attacks in Jaipur came as a great shock to one and all, however, it has made us get even stronger and get together to let the bad people not succeed in breaking the very social fabric. In fact it has brought the people of all communities together. Things came back to normal in a couple of days itself and no tourist was hurt. In fact some foreign tourists were seen helping patients and donating blood at hospitals!
While India is still enjoying the last vestiges of summer, airlines are already planning their monsoon schedules, which would probably mean reduced frequencies. But again perhaps not everyone is likely to stay away during the rains….India is after all at her soothing best during the monsoons, particularly so at her famous Mediterranean spot on the West coast – Goa & southern state of Kerala!
The Railways in India have played host to some of the most famous steam engines in the world and has seen a string of Palace on Wheels take to her rails. Capitalising on her growing international status, she is tapping the huge Bollywood market with a ‘Film Cell’ – we can now hope to see more of the railways on screen too.
As one of the leading emerging nations of the world, India heads the list as one of the most Energy Efficient with a number of innovative just-in-time and very local techniques for energy creation, redistribution and management, setting the pace for other developing countries.
Marine conservation efforts in the country have finally got a big boost with the first of India’s Marine Conservation Reserve being set up at Lakshadweep at the Agatti atoll.
The Indian Premiere League has the country in the grip of a cricket fever once again and whilst the players sweat it out on green turfs across the country, they took time off for a holiday in Goa.
